Grammy Nominees the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gnarls Barkley Team Up for the Hottest Tour of 2007
BURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 12, 2006 -- The new year will begin with a bang when six-time Grammy Award nominees Red Hot Chili Peppers hit the road with special guests and five-time nominees Gnarls Barkley in January.

One of the most-nominated artists this year, Warner Bros. Records' Chili Peppers scored prestigious nods for "Album of the Year," "Best Rock Album," and "Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package" for their RIAA-certified platinum album "Stadium Arcadium," as well as "Best Rock Song," "Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal," and "Best Short Form Music Video" for the album's first single "Dani California."

Atlantic/Downtown Records' Gnarls Barkley -- featuring Grammy-winning producer Danger Mouse and superstar vocalist Cee-Lo Green -- got the nod for "Album of the Year" and "Best Alternative Music Album" for their groundbreaking debut "St. Elsewhere," as well as "Record of the Year" and "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" for the history-making hit single "Crazy," while Danger Mouse was named in the "Producer of the Year, Non-Classical" category.

Promising to be the hottest ticket in town, the Chili Peppers/Gnarls Barkley arena tour begins January 12th in Oklahoma City and criss-crosses the U.S. throughout February and March. The Chili Peppers have already completed a sold-out tour of Europe, an appearance at the Fuji Festival in Japan, a headlining slot at Lollapalooza, and a well-received three-month North American leg of their World Tour last summer.

"Stadium Arcadium," produced by longtime collaborator Rick Rubin, debuted at Number One in 28 countries around the world, including the U.S. -- their first Number One album on the Los Angeles quartet's home turf -- with first week sales of 442,489, according to Soundscan. The album's lead single, "Dani California," spent 14 weeks at Number One on Billboard's Modern Rock chart, and 12 weeks at Number One on Active Rock. It also earned the band seven 2006 MTV Video Music Award nominations. The album's second single, "Tell Me Baby," was Number One at Modern Rock for four weeks, while the third single, "Snow (Hey Oh)," is currently Number Three at Modern Rock.

"St. Elsewhere" was released in April 2006 to widespread critical acclaim. "Crazy" garnered more varied radio format play than any single in U.S. radio history -- with nine radio formats and a U.S. peak weekly radio audience of nearly 100 million. A top five album in almost every country in Europe, the duo recently won "Best Song" and the Future Sounds award at MTV's 2006 Europe Music Awards. "St. Elsewhere," which is currently on its way to double-platinum sales in the U.S., was recently re-released as a limited-edition deluxe CD + DVD edition that includes a 92-page booklet, four music videos, and bonus songs from live performances. Gnarls also recently released a video for their second single, a cover of the Violent Femmes classic "Gone Daddy Gone."
